Nice skate movie, but too jumpy.

I liked this movie. The only things that were letting it down were, in my opinion,
a) The length
and
b) The animation.

Graphics: I wasn't that impressed with the quality of the animation. I know that FBF takes a hell of a long time to do, but I felt this could have been a lot smoother. On the upside, I liked all the different "camera" angles you used... it looked a lot better than all the standard side on view skate flashes. In future, make the graphics clearer and smoothen up the frame-by frame. Other than that, good work!

Style: I've always liked FBF a lot, and this was no exception. As I said above, though, just smoothen up the animation a bit. And, once again, I loved the addition of realistic camera angles.

Sound: I liked the music, and how it seemed to fit with the animation. There were few sound effects, so maybe you could fix that in future. Try downloading the ones from stickslaughter[dot]com (THIS IS NOT AN UNRELATED OR PROMOTIONAL LINK SO DON'T FLAG IT). That is, if you want sound effects. It would probably make the movie better, though, IMHO.

Violence: The faceplant into the wall was pretty well done, so that's why the 2. The board snapping, however, was a little unconvincing. That was the only complaint I have with violence.

Interactivity: A play button. Oh, I'm so excited.

Humor: Well, I get the feeling that the board snapping and the faceplant were meant to be funny, so you get a 2 for effort. However, I didn't find them particularly funny, sorry.

Overall, you get a 6. The graphics were too jumpy, there weren't many sound effects and, let's face it, there are a lot of skate movies on NG. However, if you improve this, smoothen up the graphics, add sound effects etc, it could become one of the best skate videos on this site. Keep working on it!

6/10 (GOOD)

First of all, Thanks for all that i appreciate every comment. every thing you said will definately help me in my next skate vids.

One of the better sprite movies I've seen.

When I first saw this, I wasn't expecting much. I saw the intro, and I thought, "oh, great. Another crappy sprite movie." But you know what? I was wrong. This was a very entertaining movie, although there were a couple of things I felt could have been improved.

Graphics: Sprites. There's really not much else to say here. What I liked was the variety of sprites you used. You had a few different backgrounds, which all looked very nice to me, and I saw a lot of different characters. At the same time, though, it doesn't take much effort to animate a sprite, so you lose points for that. But still good, nonetheless.

Style: Why is this higher than graphics? Because I liked how the characters were almost constantly moving. There was always something happening on the screen, which I liked. One thing I would've changed would be, in the "showdown" scene, to have the blocks that come down (for lack of a better name) to be black or some other dark color. Still good, though.

Sound: This was really what made the movie funny. It went straight from the western "showdown" music to a "let's-all-be-friends" type of thing. I laughed out aloud when that happened, so congratulations on that. The sound rating was put down due to the lack of voice acting. I don't care what you say, but every movie should have voices. Even those crappy Speakonia ones. Then again... maybe not. Good work!

Violence: Sprited violence! So hardcore! There really isn't anything to write here, apart from the fact that it is not a violent movie, so bring your kids along :P

Interactivity: A play button. Please don't tell me you expected a higher rating...

Humor: I think I pretty much covered this in the "sound" section. The sheer randomness of the whole thing was great. I was expecting a "fight to the death/kill em all" style sprite movie. What I got was the complete opposite, and I like the change. I was laughing out loud for most of the movie, so consider yourself proud. Very good!

Overall, since it's a sprite movie with NO VOICES, I can't really give it higher than a 7.5. However, I wish you luck with all your future movies. You've proven that you can get past judgement, now just prove it again. Very well done!

7.5/10 (PRETTY GOOD!)

One of the best videogame parodies on Newgrounds!

This movie, in my opinion, has set the standard for all videogame parodies on Newgrounds. That's all the introduction that this requires.

Graphics: Not the best I've ever seen. That being said, they were still very good. I can tell that the emphasis in this cartoon is on the humor, rather than the artwork, otherwise you'd be animating frame-by-frame. Overall, very nice to look at, but definitely not the most visually impressive thing on NG.

Style: The movement was very fluid, I particularly liked the look of the Squaresoft developer... he seemed more three dimensional and realistic than the others. Your character models are good in general, and the backgrounds are good. I particularly liked the N-Gage scene, simply because of the action in the background. Nice work!

Sound: RubberNinja has done an amazing job with all three evil developers, and anyone else he may have been able to get his voice on. Overall, the sound and music was great, and I liked the Rammstein at the start. Music was well used throughout the whole piece, especially the MGS part. Very good!

Violence: OHMIGODIMONFIRE. This sums it up in one phrase. It wasn't a violent movie, but what violence there was was there for the sake of comedy. Not much, but that's good.

Interactivity: The preloader mini-games were fun for a while, but they couldn't hold my attention. But I can understand that they weren't the main focus of the movie so, yeah. Not the best, but definitely not the worst. I liked the concept of Extreme Ironing, though :p

Humor: Where this movie shines, without a doubt. I laughed out aloud at some parts, which I never normally do. The joke that really stood out to me was the Soider-Man one, about having trouble getting out of the bath. Of course, the more I watch it, the less funny it becomes, but it still gets a grin even now. The OHMYGODIMONFIRE part was absolutely hilarious, too. I'm hoping to see that in Decline 3. Masterful!

Overall, I would love to give this higher than an 8.5. But I really can't, because of the graphics (nothing wrong with them, I'm just commenting that they weren't as detailled as... say... Bitey of Brackenwood). Otherwise, this is a great example of a video game parody and everything that *can* go right. Looking forward to Decline 3!

8.5/10 (VERY GOOD!)

Not as funny as I thought it would be.

I liked this movie. I thought it was quite good, but it just wasn't funny enough for me.

Graphics: As always, of a very high quality. I like how you animate the squirrel characters instead of lipsyncing them. Granted, there are better drawn movies on NG, but this is still very good.

Style: Gothic. I think that's the general idea of the piece, and I liked the music in the background... how it was just that. Not distracting or anything. Once again, very good.

Sound: Hmm... I still don't like the lack of subtitles. Pillz-E's (that is his name?) voice was a good example of this, but that's just my personal opinion. Once again, I like the music, and I like Germaine and the stalker's voices. No real complaints here.

Violence: A few insults, and I'm going to kill you for giving us a fake website :P ...yes, I did go to it.

Interactivity: A "play" button. Enough said.

Humor: This is where I felt let down. I know a lot of people have been complaining about you "selling out", and releasing a new toon, like, every five minutes or whatever, but recently, I've been one of them. The humor level in your movies has dropped significantly. Although I got a bit of a grin from the audience comments, and the website. Definitely not the funniest movie here.

Overall, this is a good movie. It's well animated, and most of the sound's good, but I didn't like the humor (or lack thereof). In future, try to put more jokes and humor into your movies. Other than that, quite a good movie.

6.5/10 (QUITE GOOD!)

The best trailer I've ever seen.

I can see why this made the frontpage. It's quite possibly the only good "trailer" I've seen on NG. Problem is, now I've got to wait for the full movie :P

Graphics: I love your style of drawing. The graphics were really clear. That's really all I have to say about the graphics. I wouldn't change anything.

Style: Stylish as anything. Once again, I love the character designs, and your drawing style in general.

Sound: Some lightsaber effects and Star Wars music. Not good, not bad. When you get a proper mic, and put some VAing into it, then you'll get higher. Until then, neutral.

Violence: A few lightsabers and a guy getting stabbed was all that stood out to me. Not much, but that's a good thing. Well, to me, anyway.

Interactivity: *Yawn* ...There was a "play" button.

Humor: I had a smile on my face throughout the whole thing. Not nessecarily funny, but very entertaining.

Overall... 7.5. I really, really want to give this higher, but since it's an unfinished trailer, I really can't, sorry. I can't wait for the full movies to come out. Hoping to see them soon!

7.5/10 (PRETTY GOOD!)

Brand-new-hero responds:

thanks for hte detailed input bud - really helpful! Did you not notice a guys head being crushed by mikes bare hands tho? THATS VIOLENT! see how i used caps to exaggerate that? cool huh - i'll..be shuttin up now..

It looks too much like Madness for me...

As a lot have people have commented, this looks a lot like Madness. I have nothing against that, but it's getting quite old. Anyway... the review.

Graphics: Quite detailled as far as this style goes. I liked the look of the saber blurs and the characters, although it would've been better if they had arms and legs. One thing I didn't like was the length of the sabers. They seemed unrealistically long, but it's a minor point. Overall, very good.

Style: I was tempted to give you higher, but this really doesn't deserve it, I'm sorry. The Madness style is just a bit overused, but this brought something (slightly) new to the table. Still, quite stylish, and the lightsaber fight was well done.

Sound: It wasn't the best. It was very fuzzy in some parts (I can understand that, though), but very good in others. The lightsaber effects, especially. In all, average.

Violence: A fair bit, this being a Madness style movie. The lightsaber fight near the end was very well animated, and I can only imagine how long that would have taken. Overall, I liked this. It wasn't overdone.

Interactivity: *ahem* There was a "play" button.

Humor: Not really funny. But that's ok with this sort of thing.

Overall, this was a very good movie, and well deserving of frontpage. I would only suggest changing the characters from Madness style to, perhaps, a full human figure. Other than that, I liked it quite a bit more than the average Flash movie.

7.5/10 (PRETTY GOOD!)

One of the best movies I've seen tonight.

It was a very funny movie! To be quite honest, I was expecting something abusive, but no. I really liked it. Now, the review...

Graphics: Very simplistic style. I like it a lot, but I think some lip-sync would've been good. Even so, I liked how you made up for it with movement and expression. Not detailed or artistic enough to get a very high mark, though.

Style: Simplistic. I like the "stand-up comedy" setting of it. And I also like your simpe style of drawing.

Sound: This is where the movie is let down. At times, the sound actually hurt my ears, and at times I could barely hear it. I understand that you were having trouble with your microphone, but if you re-did the sound eventually it could be good.

Violence: The old lady slapped him :,( Not to mention the tomatoes. Poor guy.

Interactivity: "Play" and "Replay" buttons. *Yawn*

Humor: Through the roof. There was something just so immediately likeable about the guy and his fantasizing about the American/Australian/Canadian Idol guy, his rendition of "Happy Birthday", and his voice, too. I loved it.

All in all, it's good for a quick laugh and I'd recommend it to my friends. Good work!

6.5/10 (GOOD!)

Has the potential to be something!

You have a lot of potential with this movie. I feel that it would've got a higher score if it hadn't been submitted in the wrong dimentions! On to the review...

Graphics: In some parts they were good, and in some parts... not so. The sea was just plain crap at the start, if you'd had it moving more like waves (not just up, down, up, down) and added some transparency, it would've been quite cool. If the whole animation had been like the preloader pic, it would've most definitely got higher.

Style: You probably would've got higher, except it was submitted in the wrong dimensions. Trust me, we don't want to see what happens offscreen. You should also have put some gradients in it, just to add that feeling of shading, and possibly some alpha in the water. Other than that, alright, I guess.

Sound: Some of it was very low quality, and some of it was alright. On the whole it was good. No real complaints.

Violence: Link tripped over some stuff, drowned, hit a treasure chest headfirst... not so violent, so you get a "2".

Interactivity: There were "play" and "replay" buttons. Wow.

Humor: It did make me smile a bit, but not really good enough to keep my attention.

Overall, this could develop into something. Fix up a few graphical issues, work on your characters and this could be a good Zelda movie. You get a 3/5 because I can see potential in this. That, and I sort of like the movie... in a "bad flash" sort of way (no offence). If you continue the series, it could develop into something good. Looking forward to more.

4.5/10 (ALRIGHT!)

It was decent.

To be quite honest, I didn't know what exactly the fuck was going on during half of that. But anyway... to the review.

Graphics: They were alright. I've seen better, and I've seen worse. You should try improving them in your future movies. I liked the design of the youngling, though, but it was still very rough.

Style: This was ruined by shape tweens. They are *not* pretty. I felt that this would have been a lot better without them. You could have put a fading effect or something in place (I think). Just fix that in future, too. And I didn't like the look of Anakin's walk. Don't just scale him from side to side in the future.

Sound: I love the Darth Vader metal theme. That's really what got you the high rating for "sound". The voice of the youngling was very hard to hear, I had to turn my sound right up to hear him properly. I don't know what you could do to fix that.

Violence: I'm assuming he force pushed the kid out the window. That's why the "1" for violence. You could've at least shown a lightsaber :( I mean, what's Star Wars without lightsabers?

Interactivity: There was a "play" and a "replay" button. You expected a higher rating? :P

Humor: You get the "5" just for the sheer randomness of it all. Not the funniest thing I've seen, but not the least.

Overall, it was good, but it could've been improved. If you'd spent more time on the drawings, and getting the effects right, this could've been a lot better. Next time, fix your animations, try and get the sound better quality and try to use some decent effects.

Best of luck.

5.5/10 (DECENT!)

A very nice animation.

It was one of the more disturbing things I've seen on Newgrounds, partly because of the music, and partly because of the graphics. But anyway, on to the review.

Graphics: They were very detailed, and considering that this is your first flash, simply incredible. The anime style is probably a bit overused, but I like it nonetheless.

Style: You get lower than graphics because there really wasn't much animation involved. That's not nessecarily a bad thing, but it gets a bit boring after a while. But that's just my opinion.

Sound: The music fit the movie almost perfectly. Was the writing a translation of the song, or was it your own? Either way, it was an excellent choice.

Violence: I've definitely seen more violent things on Newgrounds. The violence in this stood out because it was very subtle, no spraying blood, no severed limbs... more "artistic" violence. I like it, but not enough to give it a high mark.

Interactivity: There was a "play" button.

Humor: Not remotely funny. And that's good. If I'd started to find this funny, I would have called a psychyatrist by now. I think you can understand the "0" rating for humor.

Overall, this was an excellent movie, quite chilling in some parts. I'd definitely reccomend it to anyone looking for a disturbing, well thought out flash. Well deserved frontpage! I can't wait for the next one!
